F.S.M. BIBLE STUDY GUIDE

HOLY WEEK

◊ Holy Week commemorates the final week of Jesus’ life:
● Palm Sunday (Entry into Jerusalem)
Mat 21:12-19 and Luke 19:45-48
* Jesus enters as a humble, peaceful king on a donkey,
not a warhorse, challenging our ideas of power.

● Holy Monday (Cleansing the Temple)
Mat 21:12-19 and Luke 19:45-48
* Jesus removes commercialism from the temple,
emphasizing it as a place of prayer, and grieves over
Jerusalem.

● Holy Tuesday (Teaching and Betrayal)
Mat 21:23-46, Psalm 118:19-27, and Luke 20
* Jesus teaches in the temple, addressing the kingdom
of GOD and facing questions about his authority

● Spy Wednesday (Plot to Betray)
Mat 26:1-13 and Mark 14:1-11
* Judas plots to betray Jesus, while Mary of Bethany
anoints Jesus, showcasing loving devotion.

● Maundy Thursday (The Last Supper)
Luke 22:1-65 and Mat 26:20-75.
* Jesus shares the Passover meal, institutes the Lord's
Supper, washes the disciples' feet, and is arrested
in Gethsemane

● Good Friday (Crucifixion)
Luke 22:66-71, Luke 23:1-56, and Psalm 22:1-18
* Jesus is tried, crucified, and dies. Reflect on his
substitutionary death and the fulfillment of prophecy.

● Holy Saturday (In the Tomb) Mat 27:62-66 and Isaiah 53.
* Jesus lies in the tomb, a time for reflection on his
rest and the silence of that day.
◊ What are the Core themes for Holy Week?

● Sacrificial Love:
* The entire week highlights Jesus willingly laying
down his life as a sacrifice for human sins.

● Prophecy Fulfillment:
* Jesus deliberately fulfills Old Testament prophecies
about the Messiah, including his entry on a donkey
and his crucifixion.

● The Upside-Down Kingdom:
* Jesus challenges the power structures of the world
by leading with humility and love rather than force.
